Did you know, Wallbridge is the home of Ontario’s oldest municipal government? How did Wallbridge get its name? These are the stories of a hamlet in what is now called Quinte West. Author, Alex McNaught, was raised on a farm in the community of Wallbridge, where he attended school and went to church. His curiosity about how the community of his roots came into being led him on a quest to find some answers. Once word got out that he was researching the history of the community, the older citizens responded by sharing documents and photographs that were still in their possession, stored for years in attics and old trunks. The result is a recording of historical facts along with a sprinkling of anecdotes that, in the author’s words, “create a flavour for the time and place”.
