The objective of the Society is to encourage the study of genealogy and original genealogical research in the Province of Ontario; to be recognized as the authority and leader in all aspects of Ontario related family history research, preservation and communication and to encourage, bring together and assist those interested in the pursuit of family history and to preserve our Ontario genealogical heritage. |
Founded in 1888, the Ontario Historical Society is a non-profit, non-government corporation and registered charity bringing together people from all cultural backgrounds interested in preserving and promoting Ontario's history. |

Since 1903, the Archives of Ontario has been providing innovative leadership in collecting, managing and preserving the records of the Government of Ontario and promoting and facilitating their use by present and future generations. The Archives of Ontario is the second largest archives in Canada and provides access to a unique and multi-faceted collection that includes records dating back to the late 16th century, containing everything from hand-written ledgers to electronic files, hand-drawn maps, architectural drawings, photographs, films and sound recordings. |
